Every family is different, and the "right" rental package depends on your birth plans, where you're giving birth, and what kind of support feels most valuable to you. If you're feeling unsure, I'd be happy to help. You're welcome to book a complimentary inquiry call with me through Brianna Grace Pelvic Wellness. We can chat over your birth plans, answer your questions, and decide together which rental package (if any!) is the best fit for you. Even if the answer is "you don't need half the things you thought you did," I'm happy to point you in the right direction.
You totally could! Some birth pools seemingly cost about as much as the rental. However, they don’t include the necessities, which add up: tap adapters, thermometer, drop sheet, debris net, liners, hose, submersible pump, air pump, shipping and more. And then you have to find somewhere to store it all after! Honestly, for my birth, figuring out the tap adapters and submersible pump alone felt like my brain was going to break. Having a one-stop-shop should help ease your mind.
The Labour Support Bundle is my go-to for hospital births. It pairs a TENS machine with a CUB support stool– two versatile tools that can support comfort, movement, and positioning throughout labour. Peanut balls are commonly recommended for hospital births, and for good reason. However, I intentionally chose the CUB stool for this package because it offers more versatility. It can be used for supported kneeling, leaning, sitting, squatting, and a variety of upright or forward-leaning positions. With both chambers inflated, it can support a variety of upright, forward-leaning, kneeling, and seated positions. With only one chamber inflated, it can also be used similarly to a peanut ball in side-lying positions, helping create space through the pelvis while you rest. If you’re planning a hospital birth and want a simple set of tools that gives you plenty of options as labour unfolds, this is the package I recommend.

The difference between a generic and fitted liner is substantial.
A generic liner is great, and you get all the benefits of the pool– but I will say, I have seen it harder to fully lean into the support of the pool because the generic liner is slippery and a bit looser. Aside from the liner, the Premium package comes with labour support tools and ambience support. See the premium package here to see what’s included and read over the evidence.
I see the attraction to this. They’re cheap, and it’s already there.
Some things to consider:
Can the kiddie pool support your weight to lean forward or backward?
Can you find room for optimal birth positions?
Is there room for your birth partner to join in the kiddie pool or bathtub?
Is there enough space in the bathroom to fit your partner and birth team?
Will the water temperature hold for a prolonged period of time?
How thick is the kiddie pool plastic? (I think we all remember how easily they leak!)
Can you fully submerge your belly?
Let’s break it down:
The CUB Birth Stool is a versatile labour support tool designed to encourage movement and comfortable upright positions throughout labour. It can be used for sitting, kneeling, squatting, leaning forward, or side-lying, making it easy to adapt your position as labour unfolds. As a pelvic floor practitioner, it's one of my favourite labour tools. Upright movement and changing positions can help your pelvis respond to the changing needs of labour, while reducing prolonged pressure on the pelvic floor. It's no surprise that many pelvic floor physiotherapists and birth professionals recommend birth stools as part of a well-supported labour. A peanut ball is a uniquely shaped exercise ball that supports comfortable positioning during labour. It's most commonly placed between the knees while resting on your side or reclining, helping keep the hips comfortably aligned and encouraging space through the pelvis. A peanut ball can be helpful for anyone wanting to rest without remaining in a closed position for long periods. Many pelvic floor physiotherapists recommend peanut balls because they encourage gentle positioning changes while allowing the pelvic floor and surrounding tissues to remain as relaxed as possible. (See our resources page for evidence on CUB Stools and Peanut Balls).
Birth unfolds in its own way… and sometimes, unexpectedly so. I have deep compassion for the many emotions that can accompany a change in birth plan, and I'm happy to support you however I can. Because our equipment is reserved exclusively for your due date window, it isn't available to another family during that time. For that reason, rental fees are non-refundable, even if the equipment isn't used. This policy allows us to maintain fairness, care for our inventory, and ensure equipment is available for the families who have reserved it. Thank you for understanding, and for helping us continue to support families throughout Greater Victoria.
At this time, our packages aren't customizable. Each package has been thoughtfully designed to offer the most practical and versatile combination of labour support tools while keeping our inventory available for as many families as possible. Although some items have overlapping benefits (such as the CUB Birth Stool and peanut ball), they each shine in different situations, which is why we've grouped them the way we have. If you're wondering which package is the best fit, I'd encourage you to read through the equipment descriptions and FAQs above, where I explain the similarities and differences between each tool. And if you're still unsure, I'm always happy to help you choose the option that's best suited to your birth plans. Just send an email or book an inquiry call.
